Consent Survey
1. Invitation
We are inviting you to be part of a study that looks into how new moms use apps and online platforms for parenting, after-birth care, and body image.
2. What is the purpose of this study?
We aim to understand your experiences with these digital tools, their impact on your parenting, and how they affect your feelings about body image.
3. How is the study being funded?
This study is funded by Women’s Health Education Network. The researchers and the study are not receiving any extra money beyond what’s needed for the research. We want to make sure you know that the people running this study don’t have a financial stake in the results. Also, nobody is being paid extra to find participants for the study. Our goal is to learn more about your experience and share these insights for everyone’s benefit.
4. Why have I been invited to participate?
You’ve been invited to this study because you are a woman who has had a baby within the last two years. This includes any situation from your first child to multiple or subsequent children. We’re interested in your unique experiences and insights. Your decision to participate is entirely voluntary, and choosing whether or not to join won’t affect any services you currently receive. Only the research team will know about your participation. Your privacy and the confidentiality of your decision to join or not are our top priorities.
5. What will I be asked to do?
You will be asked to complete an online survey, which will take about 10 to 15 minutes. The survey will ask questions about your experiences as a mom, including your use of digital platforms for parenting and postnatal care. It’s a simple way to share your insights and contribute to our understanding of new mothers’ needs and challenges.
6. Are there any possible benefits from participation in this study?
While participating in this study may not offer direct personal benefits, your contribution is incredibly valuable. It will help us understand how digital platforms and apps support new mothers. This knowledge could inform future resources and support systems for mothers, making a positive impact on their postnatal journey. Your participation is a crucial step towards enhancing the well-being of mothers and their families.
7. Are there any possible risks from participation in this study?
Taking part in this study should pose minimal risk to you, mainly in the form of the time you dedicate to completing the survey. We’ve designed the survey to be as straightforward and stress-free as possible. However, some questions might make you reflect on experiences that could be sensitive. We have measures in place to ensure your comfort and privacy throughout. If participating makes you feel uncomfortable, please contact the following support services to help.

There are no known risks beyond this, as the study does not involve any physical intervention.
8. What if I change my mind during or after the study?
If at any point during or after the survey you decide not to continue, you can stop immediately. Your responses are collected anonymously, which means we won’t be able to identify you or your answers if you choose to leave the survey unfinished. Your comfort and willingness to participate are our top priorities.
9. What will happen to the data when this study is over?
After the study ends, your data will be stored safely and anonymously on a secure server, only accessible by our research team. This data will be kept for five years after the publication of the study results and then will be responsibly destroyed to maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations.
10. How will the results of the study be published?
The findings from our study will be shared on our website and may also be featured in a journal article. Additionally, we plan to discuss the results through various posts on our social media channels. This approach ensures the insights we gain reach a broad audience, contributing to the wider conversation on the study’s subject.
We want to remind participants that their identities will not be disclosed in any of the published results; all data will be presented in an aggregated form to ensure confidentiality. Furthermore, participants interested in accessing the published results can do so by contacting the research team, as specified in our protocol. This ensures that all contributors have the opportunity to review the findings derived from their participation, reinforcing our commitment to transparency and ethical research practices.
